ELEMENTary hut
The ELEMENTary research direction at PAKK examines the possibility of a circular economy in the construction industry and uses wood industry residues in the construction for small architectural forms. The “ELEMENTary hut” would significantly increase the current scale (the ELEMENTary bus pavilion in Paide is approximately 10m2) and offers solutions for designing with residues on a large scale. Thus, this research project is a continuation of the product development project for cross-laminated timber production residues carried out in 2020-2021.

During the experimental development, existing best practices for valorising CLT residues on an architectural scale will be identified. Based on the results, a clearly distinctive and innovative concept for the use of residues will be offered, where the element size resulting from the residues is best applied and becomes part of the architectural expression. A constructive and technical solution for a building system will be developed.
ELEMENTary hut project was co-funded by the European Union.
